We had sidestepped the problem of how to get the book into the market by deciding to self-publish an eBook.  There were numerous online platforms where aspiring authors could create an account, upload their books, set a price, and hope they sold.

But we anticipated a secondary issue.

Market acceptance.

Why would a reader buy a book from an unknown author?

Even if someone stumbled across the book, why would they buy it?  Part of it would relate to how well the cover was designed, and how carefully worded I made the description.  But still…we were probably talking low numbers.

If the book itself was well written – which I intended it to be – it might gain some traction through word of mouth.  If I kept at it, maybe wrote and released a second book, I could slowly start to build up a reputation.

But I didn’t want to do that.  That was the path I had pursued nearly a year earlier, with the agencies.

It was time for something different.  Something completely new in the market.

Something that would make the entire project electric…
