Eventually things started getting better.

It took close to 5 months, but gradually I was able to get back into the work I’d envisioned when first starting my business.  I slowly began weaning myself from the technical support jobs, and got back to working in offices, with larger companies, working on consistent projects that would last weeks or months.

I didn’t touch Denver Nights during that time.  I told myself that de-prioritizing the book was the best thing I could possibly do.

Things got so that I barely thought about Denver Nights at all.  And I was just fine with that.  I’d had my turn at bat.  And even though I’d struck out with getting an agent, at least I’d made it to the plate.  No shame.

If nothing else, I’d taken a swing.

Right?
